The candidate will work in R&D Excellence – MARS Team (Metrics, Analytics, Reporting & Solutions) and will focus on a variety of "Data Science" projects across the board leveraging data from multiple internal R&D Systems and external Data Vendors enabling "Data Driven" culture across all R&D. The candidate will have direct accountability to build and productionize data science models enabling proactive risk monitoring, pattern detection, historic baselining, and predictive modeling. This a very technical role and we are looking for a candidate with strong technical acumen and passion for data science programming.


Data Analysis

1) Apply descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to inform business decisions throughout all stages of clinical trial delivery

2) Translate data analysis into formalized messaging, insights and actions using PowerPoint and communicate effectively to stakeholders


1) Build advanced statistical modeling and tools to support Forecasting, Allocation and Time reporting of clinical trial operational progress and  milestones.

Competitive Intelligence & Benchmarking

1) Responsible for the analyzing trial related data to support external benchmarking studies along with driving the internal communication and use of the respective data outputs/tools

2) Extract insights from public source data to inform current trial planning

3) Create technical means to identify new patients and sites using Real-World epidemiology data

Risk Mgmt & Data Surveillance

1) Develop a centralized mechanism to capture, analyze, track, and alert the mitigation of site, country, trial, and project risks & issues for ongoing and future clinical trials


1) Produce KPIs, KRIs, KQIs and QTLs for all levels and functions within R&D, partnering with existing metrics SMEs to ensure harmonization

2) Build Trackers for measuring Clinical Trial performance against  Annual Targets &  Non-Drug related initiatives

3) Benchmark 3rd Party performance against internal trials to inform instream actions and long-term strategic decisions

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

- Bachelor's Degree in Data Science or related discipline at an accredited college or university required
- Master's Degree in Data Science or related discipline at an accredited college or university preferred Experience Qualifications

- 7 or More Years Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Data Scientist in Pharmaceutical Industry (preferably R&D) working with Internal and External Clinical and Operational data / Real World Data. required
- Excellent knowledge and experience of coding in Python, R or Scala required
- Strong experience in building supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods and deploying them into production (i.e., regression models, random forests, decision trees, NLP, clustering etc.) required
- Strong Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI required
- Ability to explain complex technical insights to non-technical stakeholders using storytelling and slide generation required
- Strong problem-solving skills required
- Ability to connect large volumes of data in various formats and systems in an automated manner and extract insights required
