Summary

The purpose of the Chief of Staff to VP, Global Clinical Sciences is to support the Global Clinical Science head to be the leading organization to drive operational excellence ensuring the highest quality clinical trials implemented with the greatest opportunity for success.  The Chief of Staff will play a central role to support the VP, Global Clinical Sciences through strategy and planning, special projects and executive coordination in the management and facilitation to build an exceptional Clinical Sciences function.

Responsibilities

  • Build a thorough understanding of all core business functions of the organization and apply that knowledge to effectively manage strategic and tactical initiatives in line with the vision of the Global Development Operations team as well as global Daiichi Sankyo at large; Support the VP, Global Clinical Sciences through programs and initiatives that will shape and drive Operational strategy and delivery including building of the new organization to include global expansion and internal capabilities

  • Develop a strategic plan to build and strengthen the Global Clinical Sciences team in line with the VP, Global Clinical Sciences. Develop a subsequent communication and implementation plan. Ensure this plan is monitored through the establishment of goals, objectives and timelines. Accountability for day-to-day business operations and planning.

  • Proactive identification of issues that could impact the successful execution of business objectives; Elevate issues about which the VP, Global Clinical Sciences should be aware and frame/position ideas to resolve the problem/mitigate the risk.

  • Develop and deliver routine, concise updates on project statuses and next steps to thoroughly prepare for meetings. Working closely with the VP, Global Clinical Sciences to identify and prepare for critical meetings. Prepare team meeting agendas and sending out pre meeting documentation. Participate in meetings and track outcomes and deliverables. Act as representative for Global Clinical Sciences in appropriate meetings to gather information, provide input and facilitate efficient decision making.

  • Coordinate with Global Clinical Sciences leadership and stakeholders globally to ensure effective communication, effective decision making and consensus building where required.

  • Prepare communications on behalf VP, Global Clinical Sciences for stakeholders of all levels both internally and externally (e.g., vendors, CROs).

  • In conjunction with R&D Finance and Global Project Management support VP, Global Clinical Sciences in management of budget, capacity, resources and preparation of associated reports.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience Qualifications

Business experience preferred

  • 7 or More Years of prior experience in project management, preferably within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry and consulting within a prominent management consulting firm) preferred

  • 1 or More Years as chief of staff to a senior pharmaceutical or healthcare industry or management consulting firm executive with evidence preferred

  • 1 or More Years suitable preparatory role at a recognized pharmaceutical company or management consulting firm with evidence of high performance and drive for success preferred

Pharma & Oncology experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical industry

  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical operations globally and drug development

Other experience


• Prior Evidence of integrating Research, Development, and Commercial activities
• Meaningful experience in a multi-national business environment required
• Successfully supporting an executive’s day to day AND strategic needs
• Professional experience helping / representing patients highly valued
