Job Summary:
The Director, Image Analysis, Translational Pathology will work across the Precision Medicine matrix contributing to the development of digital and computational pathology strategy and implementation of digital pathology-based approaches to assessing potential predictive (patient selection) biomarkers as well as pharmacodynamic (PD) biomarkers for Oncology and Specialty Medicine programs. They will serve as a scientific expert supporting digital/computational pathology objectives including assessment of imaging technologies and platforms, algorithm development for pre-clinical, translational, and CDx use, and image analysis data generation and interpretation. They will provide expertise to create and integrate pathology datasets with broader multi-omic analyses to support hypothesis-driven translational research efforts with direct impact across the development continuum.
Responsibilities:
Provide expertise for the Translational Pathology group and lead image analysis algorithm development and decisions for digital pathology investigations performed internally and as a point of contact with external partners.
Design and lead whole-slide scanning and image storage evaluations and decisions for Translational Pathology, analyze and interpret image data, and serve as a scientific expert for the design and implementation of translational pathology plans that include digital imaging data.
Contribute to the development of company-wide computational pathology strategy and implementation through leadership of image analysis foundational platform capabilities, algorithm development and optimization, and external partnerships for biomarker discovery
Provide expertise to the Daiichi Sankyo Global Research Development organization to ensure access to state-of-the-art thinking on appropriate imaging analysis strategies, evaluating their scientific basis and clinical applicability, the validation status and any technical or statistical issues related to proposed business plans.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Education:
Bachelor's degree (BS) in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or related field required
PhD in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or related field or Master's degree (MS) in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or related field preferred
Experience:
10 or more years of digital imaging analysis, or other relevant experience with bachelor's degree OR 5 or more years of digital imaging analysis, or other relevant experience with PhD required.
Hands on experience with digital/computational pathology technologies, algorithm development, and translational research required.
Experience with image analysis software and slide scanning technologies and deep knowledge in pathology-based and other biomarker technologies including immunohistochemistry (monoplex and multiplex), digital pathology, and spatial analyses required
Experience with image analysis software and slide scanning technologies required
Experience/knowledge in companion diagnostics device development preferred
Travel:
Ability to travel up to 10% globally
