Summary

This position is responsible for processing and maintaining business and distribution license applications and renewals and acting as lead paralegal support and coordinator of legal matters, under attorney supervision, on litigation-related matters (such as subpoenas, responses to discovery requests for litigation matters, and various other related projects (litigation readiness, e-discovery, document collections, etc.)). This position is also responsible for providing general and varied legal support to department attorneys, and other individuals within the Legal & Corporate Affairs Department, including but not limited to independent preparation of legal documents which may include AOPs and AOIs, completion of discovery and investigation requests for litigation related matters, attorney support on litigation matters (including products liability, employment, contract and patent matters), vendor management and support of other corporate business filings and support of legal technology projects.

Responsibilities

- Litigation: Provide general support in the coordination of and assisting in litigation matters, investigating and responding to fact and document discovery, collecting documents, and responding to subpoenas and other legal document requests. Coordinates the issuance, tracking and lifting of legal holds. Handles projects directly or, in cases of major litigation, will be responsible for coordinating projects among team of paralegals and/or other support staff. Also coordinates major litigation projects, assists with corporate business filings, and legal technology projects.
- Records Management: Provide general support regarding the corporate records management program both within Legal and Corporate Affairs and across the Company.
- Licensing and Annual Reports: Responsible for the preparation, processing, filing and maintenance of all distribution and business license initial applications, and/or renewals. Responsible for tracking expiration dates and regulatory changes to ensure timely filing. Preparation of all applications and related documents and research for attorneys as to requirements, regulatory rules and state-specific changes so that final review and approval can be obtained. Submits applications and any additional paperwork to state either electronically or through mail. Tracks progress of submission to ensure receipt and acknowledge good standing. Organizes and maintains all paperwork in accordance with applicable records management policies and processes. With any necessary supervision, research legal issues relevant to state licensing and/or annual report submissions (including legal interpretations on various questions included in the required forms) and makes recommendations to attorneys on how to respond/handle specific questions and issues on applications. Interfaces, as deemed necessary, with governmental entities to ensure compliance.
- Vendor Management: Responsible for LCA Vendor Management process. Including but not limited to managing the retention letters/contacts with outside counsel and legal vendors as well as overseeing the opening and closing of purchase orders for all LCA vendors.
- Other department-specific or cross-functional projects as assigned within, or by, the Legal Affairs group.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree required
- Paralegal Certificate required

Experience Qualifications

- 4 or More Years years of in-house legal department and/or law firm experience if relevant work done required
- 1 or More Years years of corporate and/or pharmaceutical company experience preferred
- 1 or More Years Experience with large/major litigation matters preferred

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and move file boxes, etc. 25% of the time
