Summary
This role is responsible to work with DS internal customers, R&D Procurement team members and Vendors to support the generation, execution and management of low to mid-complexity clinical R&D contracts. Manages most aspects of sourcing and negotiating Vendor contracts to ensure that the contracts add value to the organization (cost, quality, timelines).
Responsibilities
- Procurement Manages outsourcing activities including contract budget, payment schedule scope negotiation through to contract execution. Coordinate with internal customers to understand their procurement needs and provide timely support. Supports internal customers to help ensure that vendors meet required service level. Demonstrates strong understanding and advanced knowledge of procurement principles, business language in contracts, vendor selection criteria. Demonstrates strong comprehension of the outsourcing processes and procedures. Develops/manages other ad hoc special projects as needed; works independently.
- Communication and Relationship Management Accountable for contract related communication with vendors and internal customers. Appropriately escalates issues and conflicts. This position will work cross-functionally to execute the outsourcing process. Responsible for appropriate utilization and application of negotiation skills, partnership management and strong interpersonal skills to support and advance objectives.
- Process and Procedures Proactively seeks to become an expert in low to mid-complexity Vendor contracts supporting Clinical RD and PH.1 to PH. IV outsourced services. Assist in the development and implementation of new processes, procedures and/or systems, using technology and automation where possible to improve organizational efficiency and cost controls.
- Contract Execution Builds content of the contract, verifies the budget against the needs, validates rates from service providers, and ensures all contract exhibits are in the correct format and aligned. Performs overall quality control of the contract. Accountable for the contracting process, review and approval in accordance with company policies for all the studies in their scope.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Life Sciences required
Experience Qualifications
- 4 or More Years related work experience required
- 1 or More Years of procurement experience within the pharmaceutical industry preferred
- MS Office experience, including PowerPoint; Advanced Word and Excel skills required
- Experience with technologies as related to process optimization/automation preferred
- Demonstrated ability to leverage digital data and analytics preferred
- Demonstrated ability driving or participating in digital transformation initiatives preferred
Travel
Ability to travel up to 5% Business meetings and/or conferences as required
