Summary

The Global MSL Excellence Director for Oncology is accountable for ensuring the strategic alignment of MSL activities across Daiichi Sankyo (DS) regions, and the development, delivery and reporting of prioritized MSL Excellence initiatives to strengthen MSL capabilities across DS. Working in collaboration with the Global Medical Affairs Team leads, regional medical affairs leads and Regional Field Medical Affairs (FMA) teams, provides strategic direction and implements programs to build Oncology-specific MSL and MSL Leader capabilities and shape the future field medical role in Oncology.

Responsibilities
  • Develop global MSL policy aligned with regions and ensure it helps to maintain the quality and consistency of MSL activities
    Proactive planning across regions, therapy areas franchise, and compounds to optimize FMA activities

    Defining the minimum standards and expectations of the MSL role and guidance on standard metrics for the FMA
    Develop aligned MSL training curriculums in partnership with global, regional, and field medical affairs leads across the Oncology franchises
    Partner with regional FMA teams to ensure strategic alignment of field medical affairs activities with regards to Operational Excellence and efficiencies across the regions
    Understand the broader picture in the therapy area to evaluate company strategy and priorities in different disease areas
    Partner with Global Medical Affairs Team leads to drive excellence in resource development, including for prioritized clinical trial programs
    Monitor and report MSL activities and ensure alignment with agreed global Oncology key performance indicators (KPIs) and key quality indicators (KQIs), including insights collection
    Partner with stakeholders to provide strategic alignment of Global MSL Excellence objectives.
    Collaborate with Regional Medical Affairs Leads to provide insights to the Global Medical Affairs Team leads for Oncology regarding the diverse needs of Regional FMA teams to support strategic alignment of prioritized initiatives
    Provide insight, guidance, influence and expertise that ensures global vision for MSL role is well understood
    Support the effective and efficient implementation of Global MSL Excellence initiatives that result in consistent, valued outcomes and maximum in-country impact


Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)
  • Advanced degree in scientific discipline (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD), preferably with Oncology focus preferred
Experience Qualifications
  • 10 or More Years related Pharma experience; Oncology experience preferred.
  • 4 or More Years experience in Medical Affairs; Experience in a global role preferred.
  • Experience managing and leading MSL and Medical Affairs teams preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical affairs strategy and clinical development/operations matrix preferred.
  • MSL performance management and outcomes-based reporting preferred.
  • Design of programs that focus on managing, leading and coaching high performing individuals and teams preferred.
  • Results-driven with customer-service orientation preferred.

Travel
Ability to travel up to 30%
