Our History
Our company was founded on cutting-edge science by a scientific pioneer of his time, Dr. Jokichi Takamine,
who led his team to success in launching Daiichi Sankyo’s first adrenaline agent in the early 1900s. In
recent history, our team developed antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) that are transforming standards of care
in oncology. Since 1899, we have advanced innovative science, from the discovery of vitamin B1 by
one of our scientific advisors to making significant strides in cardiovascular medicine in the 21st century.
Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd., our parent company, was formed in 2005 from the merger of Daiichi Pharmaceutical
Co., Ltd. and Sankyo Co., Ltd. With our US headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, we are committed to
creating and providing innovative medicines that address the unmet medical needs of patients in both mature
and emerging markets.
Today, our medicines help patients in more than 30 countries and regions, including North America, Japan, Asia, Latin America, and Europe.
